Tomorrow, Thursday 15 October 2026, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng will conduct an oversight inspection at the R563, where a large sinkhole appeared more than a year ago.
The DA has received numerous complaints from motorists and residents that the sinkhole continues to grow, putting lives in danger. Motorists have complained that the alternative route is unsafe because it lacks clear road signage.
The oversight inspection will be led by the DA Shadow MEC for Roads and Logistics, Evert Du Plessis MPL, along with DA Mogale City Constituency Head, Jahno Engelbrecht MP, DA Mayoral Candidate for Mogale City, Cllr Tyrone Gray, and DA Ward 39 Councillor, Cllr Gwen Britz.
Members of the media are invited, and there will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
