DA calls on Mayor Moya to urgently address deteriorating service delivery in Atteridgeville

Issued by Cllr Katlego Makgaleng – DA Constituency Chairperson Atteridgeville
21 Feb 2026 in Press Statements

The DA in Atteridgeville is launching a community petition calling for immediate action to reverse the decline in basic service delivery across Atteridgeville, Lotus Gardens, and Pretoria West by the ANC-ActionSA coalition. We invite all affected residents and community members to sign the petition, which will be submitted to the City Council on their behalf.

The current ANC-ActionSA coalition administration has neglected to prioritise and adequately serve the residents of these communities.

The following are the glaring critical service delivery failures of the administration:

• Widespread illegal dumping caused by inconsistent and unreliable waste collection services.

• Roads severely damaged by potholes, posing safety risks and hindering mobility.

• Overgrown grass and vegetation in cemeteries, along walkways, and even adjacent to municipal offices, creating health and safety hazards.

• Neglect of the Pheli Heroes’ Memorial in Atteridgeville, a site of historical and cultural significance that deserves proper maintenance and respect.

• Frequent power outages and water shortages, further disrupting daily life and economic activity.

We urge Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya to move beyond superficial engagements and celebrity-style appearances and instead focus on delivering tangible, consistent services to the people of Atteridgeville, Laudium, Pretoria West, and surrounding areas.

To support our initiative and sign the petition, please contact Cllr Katlego Makgaleng.

The people of these communities deserve better. Service delivery is a basic right, not a privilege. The DA remains committed to holding the coalition accountable and fighting for improved services for all residents.
