ANC service delivery failures crippling Rosslyn Business

During September, the Democratic Alliance (DA) met with business owners in Rosslyn, who pointed out the importance of affordable, reliable power supply for business growth and job creation.

While the ANC government in Tshwane is preaching the importance of economic growth, they are failing in delivering the basic services that is needed to create the very environment that fosters economic growth. In the two weeks after the DA’s visit to Rosslyn the industrial park suffered nearly 60 hours of power failures, this is almost the equivalent of stage 3 loadshedding.

The reasons provided for these failures point to a combination of criminality and infrastructure collapse, including: substation vandalism, theft of high-voltage cables, earthing faults, and the need for panel replacements.

The DA’s plan under the leadership of Cilliers Brink, before being removed from office, was to utilise technology to safeguard assets and this is exactly what we intend to do when returning to government in 2026.

The city of Tshwane budgeted R565 million to be spent on watchman services contracted to companies linked to the Deputy Executive Mayor, Eugene Modise, to guard its infrastructure; yet business and residents see no benefits.

Mayor Moya has completely lost control of Deputy Mayor Modise, who, in his secondary role as Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, seems only interested in protecting his own patronage, and it is for this very reason that the DA’s Mayoral Candidate, Cilliers Brink, has committed to bring a Motion of No Confidence against Modise.

The businesses and residents of Tshwane deserve leaders that care about real service delivery and the DA will continue to fight to ensure this is prioritised.
