The Democratic Alliance (DA) Caucus in the City of Tshwane remains confident in the stability and effectiveness of the Multi-Party Coalition Government in the city. Despite the attention surrounding ActionSA’s internal review, we believe that the coalition, under the leadership of Executive Mayor Cilliers Brink and Deputy Executive Mayor Nasipi Moya, has demonstrated a strong track record of service delivery successes.

Last month, in a statement, ASA Caucus Leader Jackie Mathabathe wrote, “[…] significant strides have been made in improving the city of Tshwane. For the first time since the start of the term of office, the city of Tshwane is stable and effecting institutional change that is now starting to root out corruption and institutionalise the procurement that was captured.” We believe this statement still holds true—together, we are turning around the Capital City.

Tshwane has experienced significant improvements in governance and service delivery under the coalition government. Key achievements include the introduction of a performance-driven management team, strengthened financial oversight through initiatives like Tshwane ya Tima, and progress towards energy independence from Eskom. The coalition has also addressed critical historical issues, such as the Hammanskraal water crisis, with residents set to receive clean drinking water in the coming months. Additionally, partnerships with the community have enhanced public safety, cleaned public spaces, and improved infrastructure, underscoring the coalition’s commitment to creating a functional and inclusive capital city.

The local working relationship between the DA, ActionSA, and our other coalition partners remains strong. There has been no indication from any party that they intend to disrupt this stability. Tshwane continues to serve as a beacon of hope for Gauteng residents, demonstrating that local government can be effective. We believe that no party would seek to undermine this stable and successful multi-party government, only to open the doors for those who crippled Tshwane in the past.
