The following is an extract from a speech at the Final Rally for Rand West City.
Like so many residents, I love my city. I was born here. I went to school here. I still live here! This is the only place that I call home.
Like so many of you, I don’t want to and cannot go to another city. For this reason, we have to protect our city.
We ran a campaign like no other in Randwest. We walked the streets and knocked on doors all over Randwest City. Our candidates went door to door and took up issues in your wards.
We highlighted our issues. We made our election manifesto public. We did radio interviews, television debates, multiple social media posts, and so much more.
We have taken up multiple issues, including housing issues, with the Human Rights Commission and reported corruption to the Public Protector.
Residents are excited for a change in local government that will work for all the people. When I go to Bekkersdal, Simunye, Mohlakeng, Greenhills, Randgate, and other areas, residents are eager for change.
We don’t only want to win Wards in this election. We want to win this municipality with an outright majority. We want to be able to carefully manage the budget of this city. We will be in a far better position to deliver services to you.
I need you to support me in numbers. Let us make history together!
