Bus services in Tshwane are collapsing, jeopardizing people’s mobility

-Buses are not operating effectively due to security failures

-This is exacerbated by an aging fleet which is falling into disrepair

-This is the result of the ANC-led administration’s negligence

Action SA and the ANC administration are found wanting, as the City’s bus operators cannot meet shifts and commuter demand because depots lack security, leading to bus vandalism.

The Tshwane Bus Services has 30 buses in a workshop, and 10 of those buses were vandalized with cables cut and parts stolen. The Princess Park Depot is one of the premises that were attacked by criminals who cut server cables, broke tables, and removed air conditioners from the premises, also making working conditions unbearable for City employees.

This is because there was no security in place, and the city has also failed to inform commuters of service disruptions or provide adequate transport to their places of employment, forcing many to pay out of pocket.

This is also due to the buses having aged, the Action SA and ANC administration not planning the procurement of new bus infrastructure, and there being delays in insurance payouts for buses involved in accidents.

The City is not only failing to provide a reliable service but also failing to inform commuters of delays and report on the break-ins that have taken place in the City of Tshwane.

If elected to govern, in line with our Manifesto 2026, we will leverage public-private partnerships (PPPs) to finance, construct, maintain, and expand transportation infrastructure, which enables economic development, job creation, and service delivery within Tshwane.

Residents deserve an administration that ends the chaos and prioritizes service delivery, so they do not have to worry about how they will get to work, family, the shops, or home. You have the power to vote for change in the upcoming Local Government Election on 4 November 2026.
