The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg has been informed that Johannesburg Water’s services have come to a halt across the City, as workers and management sit in meetings to resolve grievances.
English soundbite by Cllr Tyrell Meyers
We call on the executive to urgently intervene, and ensure some semblance of normality as Johannesburg heads into a manmade drought, which will only be worsened by a go-slow.
This go slow effectively means that there have been little to no teams attending to bursts, clearing sewage or supplying tankers. This comes at a time when some parts of Joburg have been without water for well over two weeks.
Residents across the City have had to endure prolonged outages from Midrand, to Melville to Bezuidenhout Valley as well as Crown Gardens and South Hills.
As usual there is no communication or leadership by the responsible MMC or the Executive Mayor.
Johannesburg needs accountability and more so – water.
