Today the Mayor of Tshwane, Nasiphi Moya, unpacked crime statistics in the City of Tshwane. Efforts to address crime in Tshwane remain welcome, but the Mayor should have begun by confronting criminality within her own administration.
Tomorrow, 3 December 2025, the DA will lay fraud charges against Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise since the mayor is not acting. Investigative reports in Council link him to irregular benefits from a City contract.
His presence at today’s Crime Strategy briefing raises serious questions. If the City is serious about fighting crime, it should first demonstrate zero tolerance for wrongdoing.
Charges will be laid by Ald Cilliers Brink, DA Tshwane Mayoral Candidate and Cllr Jacqui Uys, DA Tshwane Spokesperson for Finance.
