The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng launched a billboard in the south of Johannesburg today to continue our campaign for criminal charges against the kingpins who stole R2.3 billion from Tembisa Hospital, and the urgent recovery of this money.
Speakers at the unveiling included the DA Gauteng Leader, DA Gauteng Leader, Solly Msimanga MPL, DA Gauteng Shadow Health MEC, Dr Jack Bloom, DA Tembisa South Constituency Head, Refiloe Nt’sekhe MPL and DA Tembisa North Constituency Head, Khathutshelo Rasilingwane MPL.
The billboard declares: “Tembisa Hospital victims died for Lamborghinis” and asks for support for the DA’s campaign to recover the billions of rands stolen.
The DA believes there is no need to wait until the conclusion of the SIU investigation to lay criminal charges. The evidence used for the asset forfeiture of property and a fleet of designer cars worth R208 million from Mr Hangwani Maumela should be used to arrest him soon.
There will only be justice for murdered whistleblower Babita Deokaran when the bigwig offenders are nailed and jailed. They were the ones who gave the orders and benefited handsomely.
The DA will not stop our campaign until all those who stole from the poorest and most vulnerable hospital patients are criminally charged and appear in court. The sale of seized assets should be expedited and the money returned to the Gauteng Health Department to improve hospital conditions.
We believe that the best tribute and legacy for Babita would be a corruption-free health department where the budget is properly spent for the benefit of sick and injured people.
