The Emfuleni Ethics Committee has failed to meet even once in 6 months, nor has it taken action against ANC Cllr Davids for allegedly illegally selling municipally owned stands to residents and behaving with gross negligence in his role. If proven, this alone is a criminal offence.
This has resulted in the committee failing in addressing this matter, allowing for corruption and incompetence to thrive.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is calling on COGTA to launch a full-scale investigation into the dysfunctional Emfuleni Ethics Committee as well as the questionable Cllr Davids.
Additionally, the DA will be writing to council to request that the Emfuleni Ethics Committee Chairperson step aside and be replaced with someone who is fit for purpose.
The DA will continue its steadfast fight to restore ethical and transparent governance that deliver quality services to the residents of Emfuleni.
