The Democratic Alliance (DA) condemns in the strongest terms the burning down of a mobile classroom in Ennerdale.

This occurred during a total shutdown protest which is nothing more than a ploy by the ANC to incite anarchy.

Setting the mobile classroom alight only places yet further strain on the already constrained resources of the Gauteng Department of Education.

The only people who suffer from these actions are the learners who attend the school where this incident occurred as learning and teaching will now be disrupted.

Over the last few days residents of Gauteng have woken up to tyres been set alight and roads blocked in various communities in the province, under the guise of service delivery protests.

It has become clear that these violent acts are just another desperate campaign by the ANC to hide the fact that they have wasted 25 years in government and are unable to show how they have changed the lives of the people they serve for the better.

This coordinated campaign of ANC-fuelled anarchy is targeting DA-led governments, where the needs of the people are put first and service delivery has drastically improved.

The residents of this province face a clear choice at the ballot box on 8 May – a choice between more violence and chaos from the ANC, or the DA’s agenda to bring change that restores order and builds One South Africa For All.
